Ten days is the most relaxed pace possible for a Yellowstone and Grand Teton trip without skipping major highlights. Four full Yellowstone days, two Grand Teton days, a Jackson Hole town day, the legendary Beartooth Highway drive, plus two real rest days at the cabin. Built around staying in Island Park, Idaho for all 10 nights.

Day 1 — Arrive & Settle into Island Park

Fly into Idaho Falls (IDA), Bozeman (BZN), or Jackson Hole (JAC). Grocery stop in Rexburg or Ashton. Spend the afternoon at Big Springs and the Johnny Sack Cabin.

Day 2 — Old Faithful & Geyser Basins

Leave by 7 AM. Old Faithful, Upper Geyser Basin, Grand Prismatic with the Fairy Falls Overlook, then Norris.

Day 3 — Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone & Hayden Valley

Drive to Canyon Village. Artist Point, Uncle Tom's Trail, Brink of the Lower Falls, Inspiration Point. Afternoon wildlife drive through Hayden Valley.

Day 4 — Lamar Valley & Mammoth Hot Springs

Pre-dawn departure. Lamar Valley wildlife at dawn (wolves, grizzlies, bison). Tower Fall, Mammoth terraces, return via Norris.

Day 5 — Rest Day in Island Park

No park entry. Sleep in. Pick one or two low-effort local activities: Mesa Falls, half-day fly fishing, Henry's Lake State Park, or an ATV trail loop.

Day 6 — Grand Teton Scenic Drive & Photo Stops

Sunrise at Mormon Row's Moulton Barn. Schwabacher Landing, Snake River Overlook, Oxbow Bend, Signal Mountain summit. Lunch at Dornan's. Chapel of the Transfiguration.

Day 7 — Jenny Lake, Hidden Falls & Cascade Canyon

Jenny Lake shuttle boat to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. Continue into Cascade Canyon for moose and wildflowers. Easier alternatives: Taggart Lake or String Lake loop.

Day 8 — Jackson Hole Town Day

Skip the early start. Town Square antler arches, National Museum of Wildlife Art, Teton Village aerial tram to Rendezvous Mountain (10,450 ft). Dinner in Jackson.

Day 9 — Beartooth Highway Scenic Drive

America's most scenic drive — 68 miles of switchbacks topping out at 10,947 feet. Cooke City to Beartooth Pass to Red Lodge. Long day; consider an overnight in Red Lodge if your group is flexible.

Day 10 — Big Springs, Mesa Falls & Departure

Slow morning, do laundry, one final Island Park experience — Big Springs boardwalk, breakfast at Pond's Lodge, last hour of fly fishing. Drive to airport with a 3-hour cushion.
